* GK 1. Ray Clemence
One of English and European football’s best and most decorated goalkeepers ever and part of the all-conquering Liverpool team of the 1970s.

* RB 2. Phil Neal
Phil Neal will be remembered as one of the most consistent right backs the club has ever had on its books. He served the club for over ten years and won four European cup winning medals in his time. He is the only player to have achieved this feat.

* LB 3. Emlyn Hughes
Full back, centre back and midfielder he was one of the great Liverpool captains and the first to hold aloft the European Cup after the majestic 3-1 victory over Borrussia Moenchengladbach in Rome in 1977.

* CH 4. Jamie Carragher
Local hero Jamie Carragher is a superb man-marker and tackler who has also worked on developing the attacking side of his game.One of the first names on the team sheet Carragher doesn’t get the headlines like a Steven Gerrard or Xabi Alonso, but he does a job and does a very good one at that.

* MR 5. Billy Liddell
One of the all-time greats of British football. Liddell’s prime position was as a raiding left-winger but he also excelled on the opposite flank, at centre forward or inside forward.

* CH 6. Alan Hansen
He is the only person to have won all of the honours available at club level at least twice and captained the Liverpool side to the historic double in 1986

* CF 7. Kenny Dalglish
Considered by many to be the greatest player in Liverpool history Dalglish gloriously displayed that priceless quality of performing as a brilliant individual within a team framework.

* MC 8. Steven Gerrard
Captain of Liverpool FC and a product of the Liverpool Youth Academy, Steven Gerrard captained Liverpool to their fifth European Cup against AC Milan in Istanbul.

* CF 9. Ian Rush
Welshman whose attacking partnership with Kenny Dalglish at Liverpool is regarded as being one of the greatest and most successful in the history of English and European football. He is generally regarded by the Liverpool fans as the greatest striker to ever grace the Liverpool shirt.

* ML 10. John Barnes
In his first season at Anfield, Barnes was outstanding as Liverpool coasted to the League title, remaining undeafeated for the first 29 games of the season and ending up with just two defeats, Barnes had performed a memorable (not necessarily for the right reasons) rap on the club’s traditional Cup final song Anfield Rap, which got to No.3 in the UK charts.

* MC 11. Graeme Souness
Souness is an intelligent, articulate and highly motivated man, he was an awesome captain for the club.

* Subs.
* DF 12. Tommy Smith
* GK 13. Bruce Grobeelaar
* MF 14. Ian Callaghan
* CF 15. Robbie Fowler
* CF 16. Kevin Keegan
