It’s a Monday night kick off for Reds as they host Aston Villa as the opening day fixtures roll back around, with the match again live on Setanta Sports.
Steven Gerrard‘s last gasp stunning free kick gave Liverpool all three points at Villa Park back in August, a simialr result would give Rafa Benitez’s side their first League win of 2008.
Martin O’Neill’s side are in good form coming into the match though and are actually level on points (39) having played a game more.
Early Team News
Javier Mascherano is expected to return to the squad at least and likely the starting line-up. Steve Finnan is another expected to be back on contention and goalkeeper Pepe Reina will come back in place of Charles Itandje.
Only long term injury victim Daniel Agger is currently ruled out.
