Reds reserves win League

Liverpool won the Premier Reserve League North on Monday night, clinching the title with a 1-0 win against Blackburn courtesy of Krisztian Nemeth’s eighth goal of the season.

Gary Ablett’s team will be presented with their second trophy of the season, having won the Dalas Cup in Texas last month, on Thursday after their match against Man City.

Hungarian forward Nemeth has been in impressive form this season and his eighth goal in 9 appearances showed a touch of class following a brilliant ball from his strike partner Daniel Pacheco.

One fan in our forums singled out Nemeth and defender Ronald Huth for praise:

Krisztián Németh; Another performance that oozed class from the young no. 10, just looked a step above the Blackburn defenders and began to boast his quality with some audacious flicks and turns.

Ronald Huth; Big, solid, strong defensive performance from the first Paraguayan to grace a Liverpool shirt. Has always had the aggressive, physical side to his game but is beginning to complement this with a vast improvement in the mental and technical sides of his game.

The Reds reserves will now look to win the Reserve league outright by defeating the Southern champions.

Liverpool Reserves: Martin, Darby, Insua, San Jose, Huth, Ayala (Plessis 77), El Zhar, Spearing, Pacheco (Bruna 59), Nemeth (Simon 77), Flynn. Unused subs: Gulacsi, Kell
