Carra vows to bounce back

Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher says the squad will bounce back from a trophyless season to compete on all fronts in the next campaign.

Wednesday night’s defeat at Stamford Bridge to the hands of Chelsea saw the Reds crash out of the Champions League, having already been dumped out of the League Cup by the Blues earlier in the season and Barnsley in the FA Cup.

But vice-captain Carra says there’s a lot to look forward to. He says, “We have done well in the Champions League, but everyone at the club knows that we have to bridge that gap between ourselves and the leaders,” he said.

“It is something that we are going to have to think about now and aim to improve next season.

“We have shown over the years that we can hit back. Like in Istanbul and then the FA Cup final with West Ham.

“We do seem to be able to mount comebacks, and we nearly did that here with that late goal.”
