Peter Crouch’s three-season long spell at Anfield came to an end today when he was unveiled as Portsmouth’s new striker in a deal worth up to £11million.

Crouch, who scored 40 goals in 135 appearances for Liverpool, has left in search of more first team football after dropping behind in Rafael Benitez’s attacking pecking order following the signings of Ryan Babel and Fernando Torres in 2007.

It is understood that Liverpool will receive £9million up front for the England international, with the fee able to rise a further £2million based on Portsmouth’s success in the next few years.

In his press conference at Fratton Park, Crouch looked back on his time at Liverpool with fond memories.

He said, “I had a fantastic three years at Liverpool and I would not change it for the world. I am privileged to have played for such a top club.

“Towards the end I did not get as many games as I would have liked but I will only take good memories away.

“In no way am I stepping down, I feel I am joining a club that is going places with a new stadium, a new training ground and some very good players.”

Everyone at This Is Anfield wishes Peter the best of luck at Portsmouth and the rest of his career. Thanks, Peter.
