Liverpool striker Fernando Torres could miss the Reds next Premier League game against arch-rivals Manchester United on September 13th at Anfield.

Torres limped out of Sunday’s goalless draw at Aston Villa scan on Monday has revealed that he has a small tear to his right hamstring.

The Spanish international striker will now miss Spain’s World Cup Qualifiers in the coming weeks and is rated as doubtful to recover in time for the visit of Alex Ferguson’s men in two weeks time.

A club spokesman revealed, “A scan this afternoon has confirmed a hamstring tear in Fernando’s right leg. He is expected to be out for between two and three weeks.”

Liverpool will look to strikers Robbie Keane and David Ngog to provide the firepower up front in Torres’ absence.
