Rafa: ‘œKeane couldn’t settle in’

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has explained the decision to sell striker Robbie Keane back to Spurs, just six months on from signing him.

Keane left on a January transfer window deadline day move after a torrid time at Anfield, failing to impress Benitez and keep down a first team place.

The switch back to White Hart Lane has come with confusion and criticism both for Benitez and Keane as a player and the jury remains out as to who was to blame for the disappointing transfer saga.

Following the confirmation of the transfer, Benitez has issued this statement:

“Sometimes good players cannot settle down in the team and when this happens you have to consider the situation and try to react quickly.

“If it is not good for the team then it is better for everyone to make a decision and because of the situation in the transfer market and for the opportunity for the player we had to do it now.

“I have to analyse things and try to look at the bigger picture and this means thinking of the club and the team and what is best for them.”

What is your opinion? Was Keane treated unfairly? Discuss and debate with other fans in the forums now.
