Remembrance

Twenty years ago today, 96 Liverpool supporters travelled to Sheffield for an FA Cup semi-final and never returned. Innocent lives were lost in the worst sporting disaster Britain has ever seen. The events of that day left an everlasting impression on Liverpool Football Club, symbolised by the fact the club crest will forever remember those fans with the eternal flame added to it.

May they rest in peace and never be forgotten.

Words seem pointless at this time. Just need to let you know that we are all thinking of you and you will never be forgotten. I don’t get to Anfield too often, but I always spare a moment every Saturday to think of those that can’t go there, but should. God bless you all and your families.

I was 13 at the time and I remember watching it. It will never leave me just like the 96 that passed away will never leave our hearts and memories. Justice should and will be done, how can anyone ignore the the thirty thousand inside Anfield today. My heart goes out to the families and friends, and one day you will get want you want.
Rest in Peace, you will never be forgotton. YNWA

My name is John Quinn and I am an American as well as a Liverpool fan in New York City. I want to offer my deepest condolences to the families of all the victims as well as all Liverpool fans everywhere. I was very moved by the remembrance ceremony at Anfield, and it reminded me so much of the 9/11 remembrances that I have attended every year at Ground Zero here in NYC. (I lost a dear friend at the WTC.) I posted a remembrance on my site today for The 96: http://quinnmedia.blogspot.com/2009/04/remembering-96.html
May God bless the victims’ families and all who support the Liverpool football club.

I’ll just say that it feels terrible when you see your loved ones going to see a football match, enjoying it,displaying your colours proudly and then u hope to see them back but when something like this happens,it leaves a very bad taste in your mouth. That day not only 96 people lost their lives but 96 families were destroyed.I can only hope that they are given a place in god’s beautiful kingdom and are at peace and I would also say its fantastic to see the way liverpool have handled this sensitive issue.

As a luton supporter we are moaning about the injustice dished out to us, this is an injustice but at least we are alive. 96 innocent people died at a football match, not violence but through stupidity of the police in charge that day. The families have not had any answers yet, 20 years on, NOW THATS AN INJUSTICE. We as true football supporters must support the families to get justice, show your support at every ground in the country, and help let those 96 RIP
