Birmingham City joined Wolverhampton Wanderers in moving up to the Premier League today when they clinched second place in the Championship and the automatic-promotion spot.

In a dramatic last day of the Championship season, the Brummies beat Reading 2-1 to secure second place, finishing seven points behind Champions Wolves who beat Doncaster today.

The one remaining promotion place will be contested in the play-offs by Sheffield Utd, Reading, Burnley and Preston. Preston ousted Cardiff from their play-off position with the sides finishing level on points and goal difference. Cardiff finish 7th, having scored one goal less.
