Liverpool are among five clubs that have offered £25million to secure the services of Argentine striker Carlos Tevez, according to a report in this morning’s Times newspaper.

Kia Joorabchian, who heads the company that owns Tevez’s economic rights, recently valued Tevez at £25million, prompting a number of clubs to come up with the cash.

The Times reports that Manchester City and Real Madrid are among the other clubs interested in Tevez, who’s loan deal at Manchester Utd expires at the end of June.

  • Poll: Would you welcome Tevez to Anfield?

United have first refusal on signing Tevez, but a lack of first team opportunities at Old Trafford recently has prompted speculation that he is unhappy there.

Yesterday, Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano told an Argentine radio station that he would love to see his international teammate join him at Anfield.

“I hope we can count on him because of the type of player Carlos is, he would be great for us,’ said Mascherano.

“It will be a tough fight because so many clubs are interested in him.”

It is thought Tevez’s future will be decided ‘œwithin days’.
