Paul Anderson returns to the City Ground

Midfielder Paul Anderson has completed a £250,000 switch to Nottingham Forest signing a three year contract at the City Ground earlier today. The move was confirmed after he passed a medical this morning and marks a swift return to Nottingham for Anderson who enjoyed a successful loan spell at the City Ground last season.

Anderson signed for Liverpool from Hull City in January 2006, a deal which saw John Welsh move the other way. Anderson quickly became an important member of the Liverpool youth Academy squad that went onto win the FA Youth Cup in 2006. His impressive form earned him a call up to the first team and he was an unused substitute in the Champions League 2nd leg game against Benfica. In the 2006 pre-season Paul was given a chance in the friendly against Wrexham in which he made an immediate impact scoring a well taken volley from a Riise cross.

The 2007-08 season saw Anderson join League 1 side Swansea City on loan where he impressed scoring eight goals in 36 appearances helping them gain promotion and also won the Young Player of the Year award with Swansea. Last season, Anderson joined Championship side Nottingham Forest on loan, where despite injuries at the start of the season he netted twice in 28 appearances.

Anderson failed to break into the first team at Anfield but will be hoping for a top-flight return in the near future under Billy Davies at Nottingham Forest. Anderson has reportedly been handed the prized number 7 shirt by manager Billy Davies.

The move marks the end of a three-and-a-half-year association with Liverpool, all the best Paul!
