This league is one of the hardest in the world to win (unless you're an SPL team outside the Old Firm)and with teams outside the "Big 4" spending millions more than us, it all boils down the the "Playstation Generation" having no patience. Fergie was on the brink of the sack until he won the FA Cup, Arsene hasn't won anything for 3 seasons. As for Rafa's transfer policy, he has improved the entire squad in every area, admittedly they're not all world beaters but let's look at the other 2 managers' exploits. Arsene spent big buying in Vieira, Henry, Overmars, Petit, etc all established internationals and they did the job for Arsenal. Fergie had a once in a lifetime group of players who all came through the youtth system at roughly the same time - Giggs, Scholes, Beckham, Butt, the Nevilles, bought Keane for under £4m so he had a solid base to work with, hence the "barnstormer" each season Ferdinand £30m, Veron £28m (and a flop!)Rooney £30m, van Nistelroy £19m (after a serious injury!) Carrick & Hargreaves in same season for over £30m, a lucky find with Ronaldo, 18 years old for £12m+. Al 3 managers have bought duds, it's part & parcel of the game, you can't alway unearth a gem. Rafa has to stay and finish what he started, look what happened when Houlliere came in, in Fowler's book, he states that we were close to the title and Gerard had a "5 year plan" so we went backwards - is this what all you doubters want? We're not out of it, not by a long shot so give the manager and the team the support the deserve. Aquilani is days away from a debut, when we see what he can do, all this moaning will pale into insignificance. Gerrard and Fernando got injured on international duty, we conceded that ridiculous beach ball goal ( apart from that goal none other was scored). Both Arsene and Sir Alex are quality managers but they have the funds to keep the depth in their squad. Liverpool just don't have the funds and that isn't Rafas fault, why sack the coach for a lack of depth when it isn't he's fault. Yes he's made some dodgy choices but we can't judge Aquilani yet as he hasn't played, maybe he could turn out to be a real gem for the squad? He doesnt have the managerial skill to play & win at the top. You can say we got within 4 points, highest tally in history, but we let a massive lead slip, and champion teams dont give away those type of leads.
