Rafa calls on fan support

Rafa Benitez is keen to put yesterday’s debacle of a match behind him, and just look forward. Trying to move on from all the beach ball talk, and focus solely on the upcoming Champions League group match against Lyon.

To this end, he has re-iterated how important the European nights are at Anfield, and has called for the backing of us, the fans:

“Our fans know the Champions League is a special competition and for us it has been amazing.“The atmosphere in the Champions League has always been good for our team, especially when we are under pressure.

“Anfield will be a key factor for us. We need the fans behind us. They are the best in the world.”

We need the fans behind us. Wise words from the Spaniard, and one we would all do well to remember. Tuesday night is not a night to be on the terraces, calling for Rafa’s head. Or Lucas’s or anyone elses for that matter. We need to get behind the team – and the team includes the Gaffer.

Lyon will be tough opponents. While they deserve respect for all their acheivements in Ligue 1, and their recent Hillsborough tribute – we have to show them no mercy.

If we are to quickly put the Sunderland match behind us, the team needs a comprehensive victory over our French cousins, and we the fans need to put all our efforts into helping the team Tuesday night, and make it another of our world famous European nights. The roar of the crowd. The Kop sucking the ball into the opponents net. The opposing team almost frightened to actually come out and play!

Let us look to the future, not dwell on the past. Let us heed Rafa’s call, leave yesterday in the memory of matches we’d all rather forget, and look ahead to Tuesday night. Let us get behind the team, and back them for a decent result against Lyon.

And let us hope there’s no beach balls at Anfield this time!

    I believe that all Kopites and all Liverpool’s Fc lovers around the World They will never let Liverpool walks alone. Rafa should know Liverpool’s fans. He doesn’t need of these kind of statements. However, They are all frustrated for our poor performances, but LFC is LFC, and We are always 100 percent behind the CLub.

    The league is over for us Liverpool fans! Let’s not blame the beach ball we were 2nd best today. Every major test Liverpool have had this season we have crumbled. Lfc made the right decision selling Keane but we never replaced him with a quality back up player. This has come back to bite us. I still can’t understand why a replacement was not found for him this summer! Then rafa made a horrible decision off loading Nemeth to Greece on loan as he has the potential to be the best of our 2nd string. This unfortunately will have to go down as a transition season. We can still win a domestic cup but unfortunately rafa is finished if he doesn’t at least finish in the top two with a trophy. As he signed on a five year plan. Despite taking us near last year and blowing our best opportunity I think he is not the man to take us over the final yard. I have a strong feeling he will be managing Madrid next year. We have to face facts that very few of the squad today
    would get any where near the squads of the other top four.(unfortunately) rafa has had to steadily improve the squad each season. But I think that outside forces such as mancity , spurs and Aston Villa all improving have put us in a very vunerable position. Rafa has given us some great moments but I think there are too many problems with the thin squad we have. The major new issue is that carragher will have to be replaced as he cannot cope with playing in the expansive manner we are currently playing in. In addition Gerrard will be facing more injuries over the next few years we really need aqualani to step into his shoes in the next 18months. The solutions many fans may disagree but we need to do all of the following to have a chance qualifying in the top 4: Drop Carragher!( face facts if we want to play expansive football he does not have the pace to cover the gaps. Buy a quality winger and a back up striker for torres. Sell off babel ,voronin and
    unfortunately either relegate Lucas to 4th choice midfielder or sell him on. Despite his improved season we will not win the league with him anchoring our midfield. Pray for a miracle regarding aqualani. For next season we must bring Nemeth back 1st thing at the end of the season.

    FANS CALL ON RAFA TO COME UP WITH A GOOD GAME PLAN! The sh*t you had our team playing on sat can notcontinue. Rafa cannot constantly fall back on pool supporters being the best in the world, which we are, & that being the case, we expect WORLD CLASS FOOTBALL. SAT was a disgrace to the club. No process to goal at all. Midfield continues to be a joke, and will whilst the hobbit plays there, and there is no flair wen gerard or torres dont play. Dont expect the fans to always get the team over the line rafa, get the team playing a style of football worthy of the fans and the prem, the best league in the world, not the league 2 sh*t you served up on sat.

    Hope is all well and good, but there has to be something there to give you hope. If we had the power of impartiality, I’m sure we would conceede that the season is over based on how we have performed. So how can you have hope if there the team plays in such a way that it can only win against cellar dwellers. Hooe willonly come if we sign a guus hiddink, or jose to change the mentallity of the team, and get them to play a better attacking style

    Kaleb, you should change your mentality. Stop whining and support our club through thick or thin, or stop calling yourself an LFC supporter. Respect your manager, why would Hidink come to Liverpool now. We have an incomplete team, no money no honey. Pray for a new owner with deep pocket, or quick maturing of our young players, there is no other way.
