well, I think you guys are right, Alonso had impacted much in the team but now that He is not more I think we should stop mourning and think of the possible solutions as to how we will rectify this problem we are facing in midfield, because of Alonso’s absence Gerrard is forced to come play a bit deeper in defensive midfield and it is making Fernando suffer alone at the top, Lucas for me cannot do that job because He does not have that killer pass Alonso had so we look forward to see Aquilani on the pitch and see how he performs in both central and offensive midfield, But despite the fact that we had lost several matches this season, I still have the optimisim that we still have the chance to win the premier league title and if we are able to qualify through the group stage we will be able to win also the champions league title, I know we all have the CAN DO SPIRIT in us, we will surely do it, History has shown we can do it, so lets not put our weapons down but rather keep the fire booming, I am proud to be a LIVERPOOL fan, IT IS NOT OVER YET UNTILL IT’S OVER…

@ Richard. I dont think there was any issue of a morale problem. Even if there was there s nothing anyone could have done about it, Xabi wanted to leave to pursue what he wanted in Spain.. and for his family. Yes there may have been the Gareth Barry issue as well, but there was no point in keeping a man who clearly wanted to leave. We made good business out of him.. Close to 20 million in profits

It is becoming very apparent that we miss Xabi. But we had to sell to finance the debt those gobsh**es Gillet & Hicks plunged the club into. But looking at Aquilani, he will be a great replacement for him when he gets match fit, and Lucas is starting to show the faith Rafa has in him.

As mentioned in my other posts, during the start of the season, the body language of some key players like Gerard, Torres etc. clearly signified that there was a morale problem, due to the sale of Alonso.

Sigh… how true it turned to be after reading this article today.:-(

Yes that is 1000% true as per our capyain Gerrad says . But Lucas is not that capable for that position he is young and no experience yet.
