Liverpool welcome back right-back Glen Johnson for tonight’s must win Champions League encounter with Debrecen in Hungary.

Johnson has struggled with injury for around a month now after a muscle problem picked up whilst on international duty with England last month.

Fabio Aurelio also returns for the Reds, likely to play a midfield role with Emiliano Insua named at left-back. Martin Skrtel drops to the bench after Daniel Agger passed a late fitness test to partner Jamie Carragher in central defence.

Dirk Kuyt and Steven Gerrard support Liverpool’s attack with David Ngog up front.

Yossi Benayoun and Alberto Aquilani are on the bench and are the Reds’ only creative options.

Liverpool: Reina, Johnson, Carragher, Agger, Insua, Mascherano, Lucas, Aurelio, Kuyt, Gerrard, Ngog.
Subs: Cavalieri, Spearing, Dossena, Aquilani, Benayoun, Kyrgiakos, Skrtel.

Debrecen: Poleksic, Bodnar, Meszaros, Mijadinoski, Fodor, Szelesi, Kiss, Szakaly, Czvitkovics, Laczko, Rudolf.
Subs: Pantic, Ramos, Dombi, Komlosi, Bernath, Varga, Coulibaly.

Referee: Bjorn Kuipers (Holland)

Debrechen are the weakest team in the group> lets put this game into perspective. If we can’t hockey these guys off the pitch you can forget all the arguments over the quality of rafas buys and the strength of the squad etc. This tie equates to Liverpool F.C. being unable to beat a championship side in a crucial European tie. To win against Debrechen is not a precursor to a another glorious European challange. This is how far our standards have slipped. A comprehensive win is the only acceptable result. We are at end game with rafa and I hope he suceeds but we are really out of time. Abuse gets us nowhere but we have to rationally say that without some trophy haul or meaningfull progress in the leauge even at this late stage we have to look at our options. Best of luck lads no true red would ever wish to see you or raffa fail. However we look for the way forward always, always thinking of the next game. Should that be with a change in personnel at any level it should be looked at. YNWA
