Livepool co-owner Tom Hicks says the club are happy with their current financial situation and that big name players such as Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres will not have to be sold.

The news comes amidst Reds fans demanding more answers from the club’s owners after reports in the summer suggesting the club is in financial turmoil.

But Hicks says that new commercial deals brought to the club by new managing director Christian Purslow are improving the state of the club’s books.

He told the Sundy Mirror,”None of our star players will be sold, regardless of results.

“The club is doing very well due to rapidly growing commercial revenues. We have significant investor interest and want to make sure that we pick high-quality partners.

“We are happy with the way things are going financially but we hoped things would be better on the pitch.”

Interesting – seems that we are following the same path as Hicks’ US sports investments! Makes me wonder why he bothers!

Looking at his time with the Texas Rangers, Hicks has failed to invest in decent players – except one who turned out to be hopeless, into drugs and whom was sold at a US$70 million plus loss. Funnily enough the fans hate him and want him to sell the club because he wont spend money on good players.

Then we look at the Dallas Stars who actually won an NHL championship in the late 90s, 3 years after he bought in. However, investment started to slide in the 21st century and the lockout of 2004 seems to have ensured Hicks can survive due to the salary cap introduction. Hicks had already started to put a hold on wages and player investment and still spends significantly less than the salary cap…..whilst expecting to win!

Just can’t see things changing without someone with a true love and understanding with an of the club (with an investment philosophy to match) making a purchase. Hope it comes, but can’t help but feel that we might be heading for a few seasons of average results before the Americans bail out – all the while we will watch the other clubs get stronger. It is a fact – strong clubs require strong player investment.

Does this joker think that anything he says any respectful LFC fan now believes…Go back to baseball and Hockey, Hickery Dickery…and as for his partner the only good thing about Gillette is the fusion range with 5 blades for an improved shave. They must have skin like Rhino’s to still be here, they just want to make money by selling the club to the highest bidders and in the meantime LFC look as far away as ever in chellenging for honours.

Perhaps Mr. Hicks things may have been better on the pitch if you’d have backed Benitez in the summer. Start looking at yourself and that poisoned dwarf of a partner before you go criticizing other areas.
