There will be no chance of Liverpool players being injured for England this international break after Glen Johnson withdrew from the squad to face Brazil in a friendly in Qatar next Saturday.

Skipper Steven Gerrard had already not been included in the squad by Fabio Capello after an agreement with Liverpool not to use the midfielder, who made his long awaited return to action last night against Birmingham City.

Glen Johnson will not travel with England to face Brazil and has returned to Liverpool this evening,” a statement on the FA’s website said this evening.

“Johnson was assessed by the England medical staff and has returned to his club for further treatment.”

Earlier today, Reds defender Daniel Agger withdrew from the Denmark squad to face South Korea and USA in friendlies.

  • Rome 77

International games always seem to hit us hard even without injuries
they end up travelling all over the world which can be a drain on your
    energy.
Added responsibilities can also be detrimental to your performance
Macherano as been below par at the beginning of the season some
say its because he’s had his eye on Barca. I reckon it’s more to do with
been captain of Argentina and been close to not qualifying for the WC
( unthinkable for any Argentine ) and he’s carried that pressure.
His performances since they qualified has been notably better for us.
