Liverpool have been drawn to face Unirea Urziceni of Romania in the last 32 of the Europa League.

Having not been seeded for the draw, it could have been a much tougher task for Rafa Benitez‘s side. Unirea though, managed by former Chelsea player Dan Petrescu, beat Glasgow Rangers in the Champions League group stages.

They regulalry play at the Tineretului Stadium which has a capacity of just 7,000, but play European games at the Ghencea Stadium, home to Steaua Bucharest, which holds 25,000.

The first leg will be at Anfield on 18th February 2010, with the return leg in Romania a week later (25th February).

If The Reds succesfuly navigate past Unirea they will face the winner of Lille vs Fenerbache in the last 16, meaning a possible return to Istanbul.

Fellow English sides Fulham and Everton have been handed tougher ties, against holders Shaktar Donetsk and Sporting Lisbon respectively.

Ain’t sure who to support either, but since this isn’t Steaua playing (steaua being my fav in romania) i would love to see liverpool go through.

I am tho’ asking myself whether to hope for a 1-1 on Anfield and a 2-2 on Ghencea so that i could get to see a nice show, or to hope a smashing victory for Liverpool, one that could boost the reds’ morale.

well… something came up in 2003 and i didn’t get to see them facing my favourite team, but i am surely gonna see at least one of these matches.

    Awaiting you in Bucharest,
Hopefully with a fair-play attitude from all of us.

    Cheers!

PS: we got some nice pubs here, maybe in feb. i will come back with some links and maps
