It may not have been the right result on the pitch for Liverpool today, but off the pitch it was a success for the Liverpool Supporters Union, Spirit of Shankly.

A peaceful protest took place prior to kick off, aimed at denying joint owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett access to Anfield. The protest was a success with 8 empty seats in the director’s box during the game and police turning Hicks and Gillett away on health and safety grounds.

SOS posted a short update on their Facebook page tonight saying the protest worked. Full details will be made available on Monday.

Tom and George were on one of their few all-expenses paid trips to Anfield, with it being against a big four club of course. Don’t hold your breathe seeing them against Wigan on Wednesday.

It appears there were some arrests, although one in particular seems to have been a blatant targeting of an SOS leader.

Well in SOS, the message is clear Tom and George, You’re Not Welcome.

GG, certainly You have a good valid point: Glen was not doing a good job. However, the way of sub it was incorrect: to put in another Right Back like Degen, Who’s just played two official match this Season, it was a wrong choice.
Anyone play football, at any level, from Pub League to Pyramid, has the sensibility to complain that Benitez sent a wrong message to Glen: “dear Glen, You’re just not good enough”. The question is: Glen performs always very well this campaign, so Does He deserve a treatment like this?
I do not believe that Rafa can’t sub Glen, but simply I think that maybe He could dropped out Glen for N’Gog. To sub Glen for adding a surplus of attack in our team maybe it could be a better choice for the confidence on the player. We can’t forget players are always men, They are always character, and They are not robots.

marctick, Crouch and Bellamy arrived before H&G.

Ridiculous behaviour by LFC fans. Blocking club owners from entering their ground is an absolutely dispicable action, and should be condemned by any fan. It achieves absolutely nothing.

And how dare they use Bill Shankly’s name. He would furious for his name to be blackened like that, and it’s certainly not in his ‘spirit’.

    Shame on you SOS.

i just cant get my head round why the americans stopped our progress this season, last year was a season were LFC done very well and what wee then needed to do was another good spending spree to push on this season and continue the good work to continue improving, but no the americans give us no cash, rafa spent more or less the same amount that was brought in from sales, NO NETT SPEND the americans gave him no extra cash they are a disgrace and as far as im concerned they have hamperd are progress, rafa should of had any money from sales plus extra for another 1 or 2 quality players ynwa

it’s obvious that something’s horribly wrong this season and we all are very frustrated about that, but how can you possibly think this’ll win us even one more point. as fans, the only thing we can do is keep faith and supporting the club, and this kinda stuff achieves absolutely nothing.

sam vance #75 agree with you .we had great chance this year with scum not replacing ronaldo ,but we also lost alonso so if the yanks truelly had ambition in mind they would have given rafa the money on players this club should be buying -losing out on micheal turner to sunderland says it all.am not a fan at all of lucas and think we would have beaten Chelsea in last seasons champ quarter had masch not been suspended ,all these critics of rafa should think of all the players he has wanted for l.f.c which have never materialissed ,this season should have been the one .

Aiyic – you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Shankly said there was the holy trinity – the players, the manager and the supporters. The owners were just there to sign the checks.

My guess is that if Shankly were around today he would have quit and be joining in the protests.

    Well in SOS.
