Liverpool striker Fernando Torres is blaming the club’s financial problems for their inability to succeed on the pitch.

As the Reds’ problems off the field continue with co-owner George Gillett thought to be looking to sell his 50% share in the club, Torres believes not having the funds to buy the best players in the world will delay Liverpool’s Premier League ambitions.

He said, “Obviously we need players. If we can bring quality players it should be really positive for us.

“But I think the situation is really difficult because I think we don’t have money to bring in the best players.

“It’s a difficult situation but every top team in the world goes sometimes through a bad situation like Liverpool now.

“Like every top team in the world, Liverpool will get over the situation.

“I have confidence in myself and my team. I know we are good enough. We were playing really well last season with the same team.”

Aston Villa seem to be doing okay without the financial ability to “buy the best players in the world”.
Perhaps it’s time the management and staff stopped blaming the owners and took a long, hard look at themselves.

It times of troubles Players are normaly back to manager…
    Can You expect something different?
Noboby goes out and scream to the Media: “Sack Rafa!”
    It’s normally.
However El Nino has a valid point: let’s hope Prince fasal will boost the club.
My personal opinion will never change: I trust in Rafa, Rafa has a good team, and Rafa must find new tactical solutions to improve the performances.
    We have a good team.
Possibly Pacheco and yeah, Ryan Babel ( have We already forgot the superb strike of the guy in Champions League against Lyon?) could be the right answers.
Rafa’s job in the january transfer window will be not easy due to “the sell to buy policy” forced by Owners.
Let’s hope Aquaman finally will get a surplus of quality in the hearth of our middle: let’s not forget that Aquaman is always an offensive player.
Good Christmas to all fellow Kopites and possibly, a good boxing day.

Paul… I know what you’re saying and respect that but I think Rafa’s better than you give him credit for.
He does do things though that are detrimental. For example, I think he needs to play players properly to boost their confidence. It seems that his squad rotation doesn’t make much sense and ruins the confidence of players like Babel, Kuyt et al. Fair enough Aquialni is a bit fragile but Bennayoun should be played more… I guess that is my only real criticism of Rafa

Rick, Has Babel recovered from his Injury?

Babel travels together with his team mates to Fratton park so I suppose that Babel is actually restablished from his injury.
Rafa is pushing to start Aquaman for boxing day’s game against Wolwes: it’s a good news.

  • Longtime Scouser

Goran Pandev is now available on a free! Surely RAFA could afford that? He is a good striker/winger, so we could play him in two positions – even better value!! Hope RAFA is quick out of the starting blocks to talk with his agent.

Nando you re extremly right. we can`t afford to bring world class striker like u but please we need you to score more goals.wating to see double goals against wolves and vill.also Gerrard should be on target.Aquilani will provide superb passes if he plays against wolves.
Any one who can predict Rafas` line up against Wolves?
Mine should go like this 4:4:2 Riena Johnson Agger Cara Aur Gerrard Aquilani Ben Babel Kuyt Torres, but am sceptical to see that formation in any manner.

i want to see now those guys who were saying that they were against a huge arabian investor like man city, because they were trusting the americans and their planned financial work for liverpool.
