Dossena agrees £4.4m Napoli move

Andrea Dossena has agreed a return to Italy with Serie A side Napoli, according to reports in Italy this evening.

The left-back has been widely expected to leave Liverpool during the transfer window, with talks having taken place with Atletico Madrid also.

Napoli’s sporting director is reported to have flown to Merseyside on Monday to agree the deal, at the third time of asking having previously attempted to sign the defender in the summer. Previously Atletico looked the more likely destination having held talks over a loan move linked to Maxi Rodriguez‘s imminent move in the opposite direction.

Dossena never settled in English football but will always have a place in Liverpool fan’s hearts after scoring, incredibly, the final goal in both the 4-0 win over Real Madrid and the 4-1 win at Old Trafford in a famous week last March.

Rafa Benitez will now be free to complete the signing of Rodriguez and move on to other transfer window targets.

One of those targets for Benitez is to offload Ukranian forward Andriy Voronin, who has spent the last week sunning himself in Miami. The Mirror reports this morning that a £1.5m move to Dynamo Moscow is poised to be completed. Fantastic news for Liverpool fans!

UPDATE: Dossena’s agent confirmed on Tuesday, “The player will arrive on a permanent basis with a contract for four-and-a-half years. I believe the player will arrive in Napoli tomorrow [Wednesday]. At the moment there are logistical problems, that is to say he can’t leave Liverpool because of the snow.”

    Before i was not 100% sure that protesting and campaigning angainst Hick and Gillet was a good thing..

    However Do you all know that majority of funds that we will recieve will not go towards other players but TO SERVE THE BANKS!!

    This week Chelsea and man city owners wiped all the debt into ‘positive’ equity. They understand that you CANNOT run a company under Financial ‘STRAIN’ and ‘INSTABILITY’.

    Do you guys wanna hear the biggest joke..City and Chelsea both run there clubs in finanacial losses. WE actually make a ‘PROFIT’. The money goes to the banks NOT OUR beloved club!

    Not only has rafa been told that the revenue from sales wont be available, He AND THE PLAYERS Also has to work under ‘eXTREME’ pressure to make the top four and produce success in europa lge..WHY? BECAUSE THESE ‘MORONS’ KNOW THAT FAILURE TO BRING IN REVENUE WILL RESULT IN OUR CLUBS FINANCIAL MELTDOWN!! As they dont use any of their own money!!!

    I have been an accountant for over 7 years and i can tell you fellow kopites that any ‘COMPANY’ which has massive finanacial instability will never ever be succussful..Why do you think our commercial team are working overtime eg Purslow?? Because they are looking for ways to serve the ‘Banks’ not our club!!

    DO YOU ALL KNOW WHO OWNS OUR CLUB?? ROYAL BANK OF SCOTLAND!! ITS A DISGRACE!!

    to all fans who think they know best wake up!! How can you expect to win and live, when we are ‘dying a slow death’ with hicks and gillet!!

As for the other lad talking about Heskey being a good option …I cant even muster the energy to discuss that one its such a depressing thought and who the hell cares whether or not he plays for england? He was not good enough for LFC then (bar one half season) and is not good enough now…end of. Crimson I think your a cracking lad you just miunderstood what I was saying. The day I see Heskey in a LFC shirt again is cuando las ranas crien pelos! Odin I have tried like Jimbo and Crimson and I cant register to get into them so any help there would be much appreciated..thanks

    Odin you should read an article on caughtoffside …called the horrible mistake ruining Liverpool and the media lie that wont die. Its normally a rubbish site but this article is up there with all the great articles written by matt,paul, crai, max etc on this is anfield…very good read.couldnt have put it better myself!!! ;-)
