The final day of the transfer window proved as underwhelming for Liverpool supporters as the rest of the summer. The only bit of business being confirmation of the signing of Paul Konchesky on a four-year contract.

The former Charlton and West Ham defender arrives from Fulham for a reported £3m, plus youngsters Alex Alex Kacaniklic and Lauri Dalla Valle going to The Cottagers as part of the deal.

29 year old Konchesky has two England appearances to his name, the last being back in 2005. He is extremely experienced, with over 300 appearances to his name.

He will wear the number 3 shirt at Anfield and joins the growing team of tattooed players at the club!

Meanwhile, Emiliano Insua has joined Turkish side Galatasaray on loan with a view to a permanent move at the end of the season.

i’m sure the four year contract will give us Konchesky for much longer than a year and a half…

I welcome Paul to the club and hope he will give us a solid consistent fullback to slot into our back four.

Also, we might have lost out on some good youth, but we also brought in to young lads today as well, so heres to not being so pessimistic about Roys decisions…

Correct me if I am out of line, LFC has prided itself on attracting the best players since forever. When did our standards drop? When did LFC decide that because we did not make the Champions League we must buy mediocre players.
I watched Paul K play for seasons and I don’t see why and what makes him so special..I agree with the comments above,a four year deal is really pushing it.
Based on my experience when your team is lacking in a certain area that would be the area that would be strengthened.LFC has no fire power, there is No support for Fernando T upfront..Stevie G can’t play the role of utility player every week.
Stevie G is at his best through the middle.2 games in and Roy decides to use Lucas as the midfield general and that has failed on both occassions..don’t get me wrong no one is greater than the Team but it seems as if Roy H is making the same errors Rafa did.
Roy H must ensure that LFC is a Unit this season or else all will be lost..

Thee is a reason that paul Konchesky has only gained 2 caps…and is behind such greats as leighton baines wayne bridge etc …he is ordinary and limited…in fact watching him sometimes i wonder why he plays for a prem team..distribution is awful…positioning woeful and has this ability to drop a clanger…watch and wait you will see what i mean

he is consistanr though…i expect the same average performance every time. i dont understand why we are wasting all the time we have put into insua ..he is developing and last year had the second best assist performance for a left back in the prem despite having a mixed season

sure we need some back up but konchesky !!!
