7 first team players out (Benayoun,Riera,Degen,Aquilani,Mascherano,Insua,Cavalieri) at 28.5m, 6 first team players in (Jovanovic,Cole,Poulsen,Meireles,Konchesky,Jones) at 21.3m. We have decreased the depth of the squad instead of increasing it. The only reason for bringing in Cole, Konchesky and Jones was to make up the numbers for the eight “home-grown” players.

I have not read all the posts but look at it this way .How many british players left the club NONE. 4 however were brought in. Does this not say that Roy is looking toward more British than foreign. Yes it is a fine balancing act but with all the rule changes that are coming in to play it looks like it had to be done. Rafa really has some responsibility in all this by purchasing too many foreign players. He was well aware of the changes that were coming.I think given a little time Roy will get it right and to be frank I am glad we didi not get Cole from the hammers. He has a poor goal scoring record.HIts better to wait and get what you want a top world class striker rather than waste money on mediocrity. The most important thing for all true Reds id to hope by the end of 2010 we have new owners who are Honest on what they are able to deliver. That is all us true fans ask for.

Masch never cost 18M…….the 18M figure was the total cost of this transfer and his wages for 4 yrs. So lets assume he is on at least 2M a yr (and i am guessing he was on much more as Gerrard is on 6M a year) 2M x 4 = 8M so therefore he only cost a maximium of 10M in transfer fee. So we actually made a tidy profit on a want away player

I hope liverpool will make diffrent this season, becuase of the strategy the coach want to use in the league. All what we need now is a skillful midfielder who can hold ball and give to attackers.
