Following last night’s home defeat to bottom of the table Wolves, Liverpool finish the year in 12th position and with their lowest points tally since 1954 at this stage. The goal difference is still in the negative and the supporters have unanimously expressed their desire for the manager to leave.

Yet, of course, it’s not Roy’s fault. Not only has he tried to lower the expectations of everyone associated with the club, he’s been playing the blame game since he took over. Take a look at whose fault it is, clearly not the manager’s….

1. The star players
“Now if they are not playing well and not helping the team to win, I will be advising them to look into the mirror rather than look for excuses elsewhere” (5 August)

2. The “B-Team”
“I am just bitterly disappointed that the team I had so much faith in did not repay that faith this evening with the exception of one or two performances.” (23 September)

3. The fans who wanted Hicks and Gillett out
“It is a major issue for a group of people who are very much anti the owners and anti the current people who are trying to solve the situation. I knew the situation existed before I arrived and it doesn’t help.” (24 September)

4. The previous manager
“I think you can pay an awful lot of money for poor players and you can pay not very much money for very good ones – it is all to do with how good your scouting and your eye is.” (29 October)

5. The right back
“He is the England right-back and, if he plays like that, one would expect him to come back in when he’s fit. But then he’d have to play like the England right-back and up to now, to be quite frank, he’s not performed – very often at least – to the level I’d expect of him. You would have to ask him ‘do you think you’re playing at top form and are you playing like the best right-back in the country for your club?’ If he says yes, obviously we will have to agree to differ and if he says no, then you’d have to ask the question ‘why not?” (13 November)

6. The new owners
“Unless there is a major influx of cash into the club and the team is going to be changed from one moment to the next, then whoever takes my place will be doing a similar job with similar players.” (14 December)

7. The big summer signing
“Joe has to come to terms with the fact that he has come here after an unsuccessful period at Chelsea with high hopes of taking Liverpool by storm and unfortunately it’s not happened.” (23 December)

8. The Managing Director
“I was involved in the discussion with him, but the initiative and the desire to take Joe did come from the managing director perhaps more so than myself. I played my part in persuading him it was a good move, but I made it clear I couldn’t promise him a certain position. He’s not so much a player I can take responsibility for. I’d have to share the responsibility for Joe, less so than people like Poulsen, Meireles and Konchesky, who are players I was happy to bring to the club.” (23 December)

9. The supporters
“Ever since I came here the famous Anfield support has not really been there. It is sad and I don’t like hearing those things because I am trying to do the best job I can do. I am working as hard as I can so I can’t say it is something I really appreciate.” (29 December)

10. Not Roy Hodgson
“To suggest that, because I have moved from one club to another, that the methods which have stood me in good stead for 35 years and made me one of the most respected coaches in Europe don’t suddenly work, is very hard to believe.” (3 October)

“I can’t work harder and I can’t work better.” (14 December)

Just in from Sky Sports News….

Roy has been seen in a helicopter en route to meet up with the Russian circus.

For 5 quid you can see him rub his face dressed as a clown.

Roy has made a mockery of Liverpool fans and on the day Avi Cohen was laid to rest, Hodgson has buried Liverpool as a credible force in football.

  • Od1962

in the beginning it was rafa’s fault
now it is the supporters’ fault
when he will take personal responsibility and recognise he is not big enough for liverpool fc?

  • Derek G

I want to turn up on Saturday and look across the pitch and not see Hodgson with his head in his hands. I dont want to see him at all. Does he not get it?

  • Si-b

roy leave our club, its a big step up from fulham and u clearly aint good enough, get rafa bk, rafa come home, he will get us bk to our best

    • Tadux

Rafa,no way you don’t fall twice for the same trick.Look at him now, crying like a baby.Don’t like this don’t like that.He wanna full control. In other words waist millions. We diserve someone better, than his miserable, arogant face at anfield.Only million pound, question is who?Seams easier to get it wrong than wright.

The tactics employed against Wolves really showed up Woys lack of understanding as to what home supporters want. We need to attack with pace and precision. Dirk on tthe lft and Raul on the right?…..what on Earth was he thinking. When Joe Cole came on he was plopped into centre mid. Andy Gray summed that up ….”well, I supposed he has played there at some stage in his career”…Exactly!!!….We need to hear from the owners!!!!!!

  • Rockchip001

After we all cry for this sad post, we should really start doing protests against Hodgson like we did against Hicks! We are te reason the club is still alive, let’s keep it living for millions more fans! Be loud be proud!

  • AnnaAckles

    Do the honorable thing Roy….LEAVE.

  • REDFORLIFE

After watching the inept display on the TV I am glad I did not get a ticket and travel all the way down from Durham.I had a much more entertaining evening interviewing the brick wall in the living, although he did say that the mortar mix he was held together with was not his fault. When are you going to sop these ” Bullsh*t excuses and face reality. Your tactics are poor to say the least ,you have disabled a once creative midfield and by doing so have made our main striker look bemused and ordinary, We are a poor reflection of what was once great,Make no doubt about it we are in a relegation fight and all credit to Wolves they wanted it more,You are wanting the fans to get behind the team, well they have in numerous games only to have the guts kicked out of them by displays that are better served in the lower depths of league 1. Its you Sir who needs to take a long hard look in the mirror, then you will see where most of the blame lays.

enough chatting about how bad he is , its now necessary to act to have him out, whats the point of campaigning to get rid of tHicks & co then allowing hodgson to do (in HIS way) as much damage…??

  • Stevem

roy just leave and let someone that has the balls to admit when they are wrong be the manager you are usless

  • Chris

    Roy,

To imply that the fans are not behind the team because they think you are a failure just shows how clueless you really are. We buy tickets to watch our team, we buy merchandise to support our team, we spend hours each week reading about our team, and we follow every game our team plays. Liverpool FC fans, in fact, are regarded as some of the very best fans in the world. Just ask Andrei Arshavin, who said he wishes Arsenal fans were more like Liverpool fans and that the atmosphere at Anfield is like no other place. And that’s coming from a player with no connection to the club. For you to arrogantly and ignorantly blame your own failures on the great fans of this great club, simply shows definitively that you are not the right man to manager our club. So, please, step down and return our club to us.

    Chris

i dont know if people are talking about this so i will. three seasons ago we looked good. then sammy lee came in to coach the team and since then we have steadily got worse. does anybody think this might be the problem? i sort of think that roy should go but who would take over?

  • Eric

there’s no money foe N.E.S.V to sack Roy so put him in some other post were he can do no more harm get Kenny in total charge Roy will soon get pissed off and maybe he will then do the decent thing and resign

  • BlackcountryWolf

I sat and watched an abysmal Wolves performance against Wigan on Boxing day, Wolves are doomed because there aint 3 teams worse than us in the premiere, but with your lads performing like they did last night ???? Liverpool in the championship anything is possible.

  • http://www.facebook.com/paul.nicholson182 Paul Nicholson

i laughed this morning when i read “I can’t work harder and I can’t work better.” if you can’t work harder or better then go!!!

  • Fidel

Roy please leave! PLEASE!!! We need an internationally acclaimed top manager with lots of knowledge and respect.

  • D Jefferson62

Roy still has a rafa team or is it ruff team. Liverpool need a at least 11 new world class players thanks to rafa selling great players and buying rubbish for lots of money we have a team which would struggle in the 1st divison so give roy some megga money to buy in January then see how we go even if king kenny came back it won’t change the facts we have no team. Chin up roy.

  • AyulBru

Get out Roy.. You are embarrassing the Liverpool fc fan… Get Out…!!!!

  • J Smyth115

Hodgson has to go now! It’s soul destroying watching the most successful English club being outplayed and out fought by a very ordinary Wolves team, who I thought were well worth the 3 points. I’ve never seen so many back passes in my life! Bring King Kenny back, even just until the summer to restore a bit of pride then look at our options again. We all know we won’t win anything this season if things don’t change but I would settle for enteraining matches were the 11 players on the pitch wanted to perform for the crowd and the manager. Do the right thing Roy and leave our great club while we still have a chance to salvage something from this dreadful season.

Roy says:Its not my fault , i inherited this side” that came 7th last season…we cant expect anything

Rafa inherited a side that came 6th , and he won the European cup next season.

BULLSHIT Roy…..we can expect…..You are incharge of the biggest club, the best training facilities ,some of the best players in the world , the best medical staff , the best fans…WE can expect Roy..

Roy says “We dont have the players to play his way”

Over 12 of our players played in the world cup…because there the best footballers Roy..FACT

Its the manager that isnt good enough
