Tuesday’s LFC Transfer Rumours: £17m Brazilian left-back linked

Liverpool continue to be linked with left-back this morning, with Lyon’s Michael Bastos the latest to be a reported target of Kenny Dalglish‘s.

The Reds are struggling with the left-back position after sending both Emiliano Insua and Paul Konchesky out on loan, and having a frequently injured Fabio Aurelio on the books.

Bastos is a very attacking left-back, having scored seven goals for Lyon this season.

The 27-year-old Brazilian international signed for Lyon in a €18million move in 2009, and could cost Liverpool a similar price.

Bastos scored a 21-minute hat-trick against Sochaux last Feburary and is a very exciting prospect.

There’s also more reports today suggesting Damien Comolli is continuing to monitor the availability of Dutch international attacker Eljero Elia.

Elia, currently at Hamburg, is reported to be seeking a summer move away from Germany and has been linked with Liverpool for some months after impressing in last year’s World Cup.

After letting Ryan Babel going in January, Comolli and Dalglish could well look towards bringing in some fresh pace down Liverpool’s wing.

Meanwhile there could be an old face returning to Anfield also, with the news that Juventus’ financial problems could see Alberto Aquilani return to Anfield from his loan spell there.

Juventus have reported losses of €39.5million for the first half of the current campaign, and are struggling in Serie A.

They may not be able to find the £14million asking price to make Aquilani’s deal permanent, paving the way for a return to Merseyside for the Itlaian midfielder. Read the full story here.
