Charlie Adam signing imminent

Liverpool are on the verge of signing Scottish international midfielder Charlie Adam.

The Reds are expected to announce the completion of the signing from Blackpool for a reported £7m – potentially rising to £8.5m – in the next few hours.

Adam, 25, arrived on Merseyside on Wednesday afternoon to undergo a medical and put pen to paper on what is expected to be a five year contract.

Adam has been a long term interest of Liverpool, with the Reds having failed in their pursuit of the Tangerines’ captain during the January transfer window.

A portion of the transfer fee paid to Blackpool goes to Adams’ former club, Rangers, as part of the deal which saw him leave Glasgow for the North West in 2009.

Adam is the second midfielder to arrive at Anfield this summer, after Sunderland‘s Jordan Henderson completed a move for around £16million last month.

The Reds are also expected to complete the signing of Roma’s Brazilian goalkeeper Alexander Doni by early next week.
