Reds owners visited Gerrard in hospital

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has revealed how the club’s owners, John W. Henry and Tom Werner visited him in hospital this summer.

Gerrard, who was in hospital with a groin infection explained;

“I thought it was a brilliant touch for them to come and visit me in the hospital when I had my infection. I was very low at the time but they called me and made the effort to come and see me. That gave me a huge lift and I was very grateful to them for it.”

It’s just over a year since Fenway Sports Group took over the club and Gerrard has been pleased with the progress made on and off the pitch;

“It’s been a good 12 months on the pitch and off the pitch. They’ve stabilised the club and certainly put the money in. They’ve backed the manager and Damien Comolli. They’ve been very supportive of the team.”
