John W. Henry praises Comolli

We begin todays news round up with John W Henry praising the role of Damien Comolli in achieving helping Liverpool ‘re-establish’ a philosophy and he also believes Comolli has an integral role to play in shaping the club’s future.

reinaSpeaking to the Daily Mail, Henry hailed Comolli’s first year at Anfield a success…

“It’s been a great first year. His accomplishments so far – most of them unseen by people outside the club – have been extremely important. He has organized so much so quickly and so well. Stability, clarity and purpose have been established. A philosophy had been re-established.”

“And just as importantly there is a strong trust that has developed among staff and has been translated into the dressing room. I don’t think it was a gamble (to appoint him) at all.”

David Villa to Liverpool?

rumour millThe Metro reported on Wednesday afternoon that Liverpool are chasing the signing of Barcelona’s David Villa… According to Spain’s Premier radio station Cadena SER, Liverpool have made “contact with Villa’s agent in an attempt to establish whether a deal could be brokered” while Barcelona-based newspaper Sport, are also claiming “Liverpool are planning to push ahead with their interest in the Spanish international.”

Villa has made 11 La Liga appearances this season and has 3 goals. The lfconline.com have also reported that “Villa has allegedly become unsettled at the Nou Camp after the club hesitated on offering him a new contract following the signing of Alexis Sanchez in the summer.”

Suarez – “I’m already thinking about staying many more years at Liverpool”

Suarez Liverpool FC

The Mirror Newspaper published an exclusive interview with Luis Suarez yesterday evening in which he states he wants to remain at Liverpool beyond the five-year deal he signed….

“I’ve just started a phase of my career which I always dreamed about and wanted to do, which is to play for Liverpool, I have five years left on my contract and I think beyond that, I’m already thinking about staying many more years at Liverpool.

It’s a club I like. I feel very good about being here, about being in the city. I feel very pleased. It would be difficult to match the atmosphere, hunger for success and glory that this club has at another team.”

Suarez earns the praise of Daniel Agger

aggerMeanwhile, Daniel Agger has been grabbing many headlines these past few days, this weeks official LFC Magazine provides an exclusive interview with Daniel Agger where he praises the form of Luis Suarez claiming there is no striker in the world who plays like our Uruguayan..

“He is so different. I cannot find any other striker that looks like him or plays like him. It’s not because he does any fancy things or anything like that, he just gets the ball in front of goal and creates the chances for himself. Sometimes the way he gets the ball and the way he gets in on goal – you don’t believe it.

“He does it every day in training, so we know how hard he is to play against. People can see every Saturday afternoon that defenders are struggling to keep him at bay.

Interestingly, Suarez has created 19 chances in league competition this term and executed an unrivalled tally of 43 shots. He’s scored 4 League goals (against Sunderland, Arsenal, Wolves and Everton).

The England Under 21 Cook-off

David Villa to Liverpool! Surely that is way to good to be true. Would love to see him at Liverpool linking up with Suarez.

  • Darryl_w

I’ve heard the David Villa rumour from at least 3 sources now, if we could get him it would be a strikeforce dream team, plus with various Spanish and Spanish speaking players at LFC he’d settle in quicker too, this os the sort of player we have to sign if we’re to be serious title contenders next season. YNWA!!!

Yes David Villa might be a great signing but remember the last World Cup, every time he played down the centre for Spain he wasn’t as affective as when he played on the left – where does he play on the Barcelona, on the left.  As I can’t see Villa tracking back if he played wide of midfield.  It would mean Kenny would have to change formation.  I for one would like to see 4-3-3.  A front three of Carroll, Suarez and Villa might work.

Why should david villa come to a club which is not offering cl football. Be realistic.

Villa is getting old and has at most 2 years left in him as a top striker. 34M is too much for him,but with the DUMBEST management in the premier league (read Newcastle United Chief Claims on caughtoffside)
Barcelona would want at least that much. Recall that the DUMBESTmanagement in the PL paid 35M for Carroll (the deal of the century for Newcastle United), 20M for Downing, 20M Henderson, and 8M for Adams  (these players altogether are not worth 35M). First, a CHANGE the management is absolutely necessary before any deal is brokered otherwise LFC will be ripped.
