Can Liverpool Continue Strong Run Against Fulham?
Liverpool have done very well to emerge from the last two matches with four points and they will be in action in this week’s Monday Night Football when they take on Fulham at Craven Cottage. We know Liverpool can still do it against the best in the Premiership but can they still do it against the mid table sides?
Home draws against the likes of Sunderland, Norwich and Swansea have cast doubts about Liverpool’s ability to break down and beat the teams that don’t come to play against Liverpool with attacking football. It’s been all or nothing for Liverpool on the road this season though with four wins and two losses and it was a similar story last season, no side drew fewer away games than Liverpool. The draw has been Fulham’s most popular result at home though this season, half of their games at Craven Cottage have ended all square and surprisingly they have won just once on their home ground, with two games being lost.
Liverpool are the favourites to win this match but they are odds against to take this match, as you’d probably expect against fairly tough opponents. Those looking to back Liverpool to win this can get odds of 6/5 and plenty of bookies have had to shorten Liverpool to win this game. The draw is available at 12/5 which makes it ever so slightly favoured by the bookies compared to a Fulham win which can be backed at 13/5. The least likely result from a Liverpool perspective playing away looks to be the draw and the least likely result for Fulham at home has been the home win so that makes the away win odds of 6/5 look pretty good.
This fixture has been extremely highscoring in recent years, last year Liverpool won an epic match 5-2 whilst the year before the game at Craven Cottage was won 3-1 by Fulham. This would suggest that over 2.5 goals would be a good bet for the game at 11/10. Liverpool won the previous two matches between the clubs at Craven Cottage and both those wins came with clean sheets so if you fancy a Liverpool win with a clean sheet you can get odds of 13/5 on Liverpool winning to nil. Sticking to these sorts of bets rather than the goalscorers in Liverpool matches looks a good idea, no Liverpool player has managed to score twice from Liverpool’s last eight goals in the Premiership so picking the players to score will be extremely difficult.
Will this be yet another three points to either side in a Liverpool away match or will it be Liverpool’s first draw on the road this season? What do you consider to be the best bets in this match?
