Suárez to contest “out of proportion” ban

Luis Suárez will contest his 8 match ban from the FA, his agent and lawyer has confirmed.

Suárez was banned for 8 games, pending appeal, and fined £40,000 by the Football Association following racist accusations from Man United‘s Patrice Evra.

Alejandro Balbi said his player was “convinced” the punishment would be reversed.

“It seems to us absolutely out of proportion,” Balbi said. “He [Suarez] is firmly convinced this hard sanction can be reversed.”

In 2003 John Mackie of Reading was banned for 8 matches but served only three after the other five were suspended. However, Mackie admitted that charge whereas Suárez is denying his.
