We’re now hurtling towards the day that should be a worldwide bank holiday – transfer deadline day – and that means the rumour mill is well and truly chugging away.

Liverpool’s goalless and, let’s be honest, dire 0-0 draw at home to Stoke City on Saturday will only ignite the journos of England to be inspired to make up new and exciting stories linking the Reds to the cream – and not so cream – of footballing talent.

It’s just a job of separating the good eggs from the bad. And some are plain rotten.

Monday’s Transfer Rumours

JERMAIN DEFOE – from Spurs £10million
The Mirror reports this morning that England international striker Defoe joining Liverpool “would add a new dimension to the Anfield attack,” whilst Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is thought to be on the look out for a new striker to bolster his own attack.

Out-of-favour Defoe could be available for around £10million, with the Reds on the verge of signing a new striker, according to former goalkeeper Bruce Grobbelaar.

He told talkSPORT, “There are two strikers [Liverpool are interested in]. I know that Kenny is looking at a South American striker who is playing in Holland and I know that he’s quite close in getting another striker.”

Or could this all be a smokescreen for something else. Let’s hope Damien Comolli has got something up his sleeve.

WILFRIED ZAHA – from Crystal Palace
Palace boss Dougie Freedman has shrugged off interest from both Liverpool and Manchester Utd for 19-year-old forward, ZAHA.

“I’ve had chit-chats with Kenny Dalglish and Alex Ferguson, but he is not going anywhere,” said Freedman.

Think what we REALLY need is a good and younger goalie as Reina getting slower as he gets older! As for yet another striker- should consider looking at buying Messi for £100m (worth every penny) and sell the deadwood that ain’t performing.

    • Jayjay1974

Get Messi,Get real more like, will never leave Barca, and would never come to Liverpool as we are now!

Andy C would be better if we ever fed him the ball … I’d have Torres back. Start Bellamy and Maxi more  and have Gerrard going forward

    • Gregsrob

Are you for real, our bank balance will still be dry, as we have not a cats chance in hell to get to Europe. We need top 4 as thats priority, not playing in stupid Uefa, playing 100 matches against Scandinavian part times

  • Saraceninc

Lets hope that Commoli has nothinig up his sleeve otherwise we will end up with a nother useless player for top price. Step one: Get rid of Commoli. Step 2 get advice from fergie. Step 3 get a talented south American striker. As simple as one, two and three

I Think that Liverpool should re-sign Ryan Babel, Xabi Alonso or even kaka all Talented players which would help the club become better….

      LIVERPOOL CANNOT USE LAH
A SHAME WITH 2 MANCHESTER CLUBS

If were being honest with ourselves, Downing, Carroll, or Henderson, havent actually ignited the touch paper!. I feel Kenny should hold his hands up and say, i made a mistake signing Carroll, Get what ever you can 4him cut your loses and move on. We need to go out and bye a strong fast centre forward, somebody who has a natural abillity to beat a defender and get a shot off on target, not a big bulky static centre forward like Andy Carroll. Theres plenty of young skillfull front men all over the world who would do a good decent enough job for us. Tottenham put a 10mill bid in for internacional`s Leandro Damiao, he`s a young up and coming star his statistics speak for themselves, he scored 17 in 36 appearances for his club team Internacional. we could most probably get him for about 12 to 14mill?. Another good up and coming front man is Moussa sow, this lad has got Duracell batteries he never stops running, and has a knack of getting into the right positions at just the right time, with Joe Cole being a potential bargaining chip for us with Lille, this could be a formality. Who ever we get in couldint be as bad as some, we over spent on in the last couple of transfer windows?. And i hope Kenny never plays a starting lineup like he did at home to Stoke, ever again. Lets hope very soon we can be talking about glory days, instead of frustrating negative ones. Redman4life.

I think it’s funny how in almost every article I’ve read that it is Dalglish that is talking to the other managers yet everyone is trying to blame Comolli…ya know Dalglish.. that brilliant manager that used basically 7 db’s againnst Stoke ffs! Who refuses to move Maxi off of the bench (probably bcuz he’s not an overhyped Brit!) Dalglish has brought in garbage talent, is using baffling tactics and rotations and yet everyone wants to protect him when its obvious he is managing in the 80′s. Our problem starts and ends with the manager… but keep drinking the koolaid!

I feel that KK as got it all worng in terms of positioning his players. At times they look so out of place and weak. In order for LFC to achieve 4th place we need to win games like Stoke, Blackburn, Wigan etc. Something must be done right away otherwise we face another daunting season without CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FOOTBALL. Losing faith in KK :-(

  • Kylemaadocks

    please buy a striker KD!!!
i knw you will! i believe in you..
    YNWA

  • Webfundi

Theres nothing wrong with Hendo (one for the future). Carrol and Downing have been less than stellar but too me the real let down this season has been the dip in form of Kuyt – that one header he missed against Stoke would’ve have been the difference between a point and a win! Both Maxi and Aurelio are sitting out way to many games and their guile is an asset. Back to the drawing board KK!

  • Lace_786

liverpool need to sign eden hazard, kenny needs to invest in talent rather then nationality. liverpool have missed out on so many top players like juan matta. instead of matta who is a world class player we sign downing..

  • Morganmulenga

KD, pliz don play with people’s emotions. Sign quality players pliz ! L/pool fortunes should be revived

  • CameronYNWA

alberto is a quality player and will return to us , charlie isn’t playing at his very best but lets be honest its not our midfield and defense that is lacking, personally i believe with lucas and steven in mid field we have one if not thee best midfield in prem we need to strengthen our attacking force and andy has been off but the delivery to him hasn’t been that superb so we either strengthen our wingers or cut the crossing game and get a worker/finisher luis cant do it all

    • Ghindman71

finally someone talking sense. neither torres or carroll are ever footwork specialists. they need a certain service to thrive and neither are getting it. you dont give them the ball and look for them to beat 3 players you the goal. they need 1 to 2 touches crashing the goal from a cross or through ball. giving them the bal at the 18 and sitting back to watch will never work.

  • CameronYNWA

whoever says the alberto was rubbish, you clearly dont know you footy mate

  • J T J

(livy) come on kenny we have to get these strickers then we will start wining and then we will kick man u, man city and any other teams ass
