Monday’s LFC Rumours: Two strikers set for Liverpool FC talks?

We’re now hurtling towards the day that should be a worldwide bank holiday – transfer deadline day – and that means the rumour mill is well and truly chugging away.

Liverpool’s goalless and, let’s be honest, dire 0-0 draw at home to Stoke City on Saturday will only ignite the journos of England to be inspired to make up new and exciting stories linking the Reds to the cream – and not so cream – of footballing talent.

It’s just a job of separating the good eggs from the bad. And some are plain rotten.

Monday’s Transfer Rumours

JERMAIN DEFOE – from Spurs £10million
The Mirror reports this morning that England international striker Defoe joining Liverpool “would add a new dimension to the Anfield attack,” whilst Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is thought to be on the look out for a new striker to bolster his own attack.

Out-of-favour Defoe could be available for around £10million, with the Reds on the verge of signing a new striker, according to former goalkeeper Bruce Grobbelaar.

He told talkSPORT, “There are two strikers [Liverpool are interested in]. I know that Kenny is looking at a South American striker who is playing in Holland and I know that he’s quite close in getting another striker.”

Or could this all be a smokescreen for something else. Let’s hope Damien Comolli has got something up his sleeve.

WILFRIED ZAHA – from Crystal Palace
Palace boss Dougie Freedman has shrugged off interest from both Liverpool and Manchester Utd for 19-year-old forward, ZAHA.

“I’ve had chit-chats with Kenny Dalglish and Alex Ferguson, but he is not going anywhere,” said Freedman.

        Defoe isn’t worth the money you pay to watch him play, and spurs want £20 million for him?  He’s good a terribly average goal scoring record for someone who demands first team football.

    We will not get anyone. the yanks arent stupid. its quite plain that a lot of money was wasted on players in the summer. and no matter how good kenny is as a manager he isnt going to get anything out of downing, carrol, or henderson. It looks like the ones we spend money on are bought by comolli and KK has to pull of masterstrokes like bellamy. Can u imagine if we didnt have bellamy? im sure lille would have sold us Hazard if we gave them 80 million we spent on the above 3!!!

    Im shocked that we sold and loaned out flair players like miereles, aquialani and cole to get the 3 we did. Then we refuse to play bellamy and maxi – the 2 that have scored! the tactics have left us open to ridicule with 1 person making the point that what is their to stop lfc playing carrol in central defence in a 6 man back line against bolton?

          Rubbish is not a word I would use to describe Aquilani. I’m sure if he had wanted to stay he would have been very useful. He was one of the few players on our squad that could unlock a stubborn defense, had he been given the opportunity. His movement and quick passing showed flashes of brilliance at times. Sadly we didn’t see much of it.

            Aquilani is good in italy where opposing teams back off and give you space…prem centre mids were easily able to stifle him at many times

          You’ve got no clue of what you’re talking about mate, In half a season Aquilani got more goals and assists than Luka Modric did ALL season. He’s a far superior player to Charlie Adam.

      This is spot on, glad to hear some sense at last. Should be part of a new commitee to slect qulaity and talent rather than the trash Commoli comes up with. I re ask the question what was his cut in the threesome fiasco??? I wish someone would tell us. Lets face it the guy is onto a winner. Third rate players at top, toop prices with him as middle man making nice fees. Sounds like a scam to me.

      I would respect your opinion a lot more if you knew more about the players. Bellamy can’t be played every game because he has chronic knee problems that make him highly injury prone, so he will come off the bench as he was signed to do. Also Maxi is used sparingly because he plays best off of Luis and against teams that give a lot of freedom thru the middle. He is a terrible wing player and his pace is not what it was when he was at Athletico. Don’t be so naive as to think things are so easily fixed.

      I thought Luis Suarez was comolli’s buy and Andy Carroll was Kenny’s buy and I am sure about that.

    I think that two strike are Moussa Sow and David Texeira . Texeira has a good potencial he is powerfull

      Problem is I dont doubt that but Kenny has fallen into the Rafa syndrome. He never plays the youth against lesser opposition. Look at Chamberlain for Arsenal. He is definitely gonna be the next Rooney, he has everything and god knows why Wenger does not start him
