FA Cup Final Line-Ups – Bellamy starts with Suarez

Liverpool name a strong and attacking line-up for the FA Cup Final against Chelsea at Wembley Stadium this afternoon.

Craig Bellamy has been preferred to Andy Carroll to partner Luis Suarez up front in what has been billed as make or break for Kenny Dalglish‘s Liverpool future.

Jay Spearing, Jordan Henderson and Steven Gerrard make up the midfield, along with winger Stewart Downing.

COME ON U REDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU CAN DO IT YNWA

I suspect that Kenny will resign tonight

  • Jaymcgrath90

May aswell post this now instead of at halftime.

Halftime report: a f cking DISGRACE (as per usual).

Cant run, cant pass, cant tackle, cant dribble, cant cross, cant shoot, no shape, spirit or cohesion, no gameplan.

    Dalglish OUT!!!!!!

  • http://www.facebook.com/peter.david.maxwell Peter Maxwell

What the hell is wrong with the team?  Where is the tempo?  Where is the attaching?  Downing crosses into the box, and there is no one there?  WTF!

  • Jaymcgrath90

Dalglish and the entire first team coaching staff need to be sacked tonight, virtually the entire first team squad need to be transfer listed.

This is what ‘should’ happen – this is what ‘wont’ happen.

More of the same next season.

    • saraceninc

That is “more of the same” if we are lucky and don’t get relegated

  • Guest

Have to concede midfield and play through the wings. Keeps Gerrard playing low for holding midfield (like he’s doing). Henderson play slightly to the right to cover Johnson. Substitute Andy in for Spearing to earn set pieces and wing plays. Maxi in for Bellamy to link up with Suarez and Downing to inversed roleto link up with Johnson.

    Then pray

  • JJ

Yet another huge loss. Let’s hope there will be real cleaning starting with the sacking of Dalglish and his assistants. There is a huge need to bring in a good coach and really good players.

  • Guest

Well, considering the financial situation off-pitch and the result and performances on-pitch, may as well stick with Kenny now.

Hard to attract any good manager to a mid-table (in current position sense) club without giving them a big investment to start with. And LFC fans wills till turn up to Kenny’s matches even if we will be out of top 4 for the next few years

    • JJ

Are you out of your mind? Dalglish belongs to the past. He has no clue about modem football and will certainly be sacked. It is plain suicide keeping him.

      • Guest

Not if the fans content with finishing outside of top 4, and happy to challenge domestic clubs year in, year out.

I means i will rather us sacking anyone deemed not good enough, just like Chelsea who did just that and got FA cup, nearly top 4, beating Barca, CL final…etc.. Or Sunderland with MON, or West Brome with Roy, or us with Kenny in first place . But seriously some LFC fans believe that beating Everton in FA semi under Kenny is more worthy than end season in 3rd, or winning Carling Cup is better than CL football.

We are playing worse than Roy’s time and the attendances was almost always full in oppose to 33k~ish then. LFC fans loves having Kenny as manager despite results and believe the club should play down expectation to meet his performances. I means that’s loyalty right? What LFC is about right? Support club through even if we relegates to League 1?

        • JJ

Agree! We have seen on this very website some of these so-called fans who support KD blindly at the expense of the club. But that’s a disgrace, nobody is bigger than the club. If they have their say we’ll certainly be in league 1 before long. That’s why I have been saying all along by keeping KD there is a real possibility we’ll be the next Nottingham Forrest!

League cup, FA cup runners up medal & below Everton in the league. .with 2 games still to go. . .season over, what next. . . we have been to optomistic every season. .YNWA

  • JJ

Please someone explain to us what Spearing, Henderson, Downing (who downed only Liverpool this season), Carroll, Adam, and Dalglish(!) are doing in the PL?

  • JJ

Mr. Henry please wake up and clean the house!

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_UMCQWZWNEUKMIYCHW2QKLWA7KA Gazza

Please bring Rafa back as gaffer…. and Xavi Valero to coach Reina
Get rid of Adam and Spearing and Henderson, need someone of Mata’s caliber to make attacks more fluid…. another holding midfield to cover Lucas, and release Gerrard back into his favourite free role from playing deep in the midfield.

Get rid of Downing..  we need a pair of top wingers who can beat full backs and get the ball to Carroll neatly.

Anyone teach Enrique how to pass the ball? Running fast to get a touch down didn’t count, it’s football not rugby.

Despite a loss in a final, the final 30 minutes shows indeed Carroll+Suarez partnership is promising, but defo need more supports from the midfield.

    • JJ

Sorry Carroll has no future with LFC.  He’s an absolute joke. Rafa had his time, he could not deliver. His time has passed and old jokes are not funny anymore.  Somebody of the caliber of Mourinho is needed. Why not Guardiola, Hiddink, or even Jürgen Klopp (Borussia Dortmund’s manager.) ?

      • Alred

Are you havin’ a laugh?? Why would Mourinho, Guardiola or the manager of the German Champions come to a mid table team with no Champion’s League football?

        • JJ

          Money talks my friend!

          Money talks my friend!

      • north

Because they’re not coming to Liverpool in it’s current state – are you serious??……….you don’t seem to understand that every year out of the CL is perpetuating irrelevancy………..we would be lucky to get Rafa as that might be the only way to attract foreign talent.

        • JJ

How about offering 200K a week?

          • north

            Talk to Henry & Werner!!

      • Cavanagh_daryl

What makes you think sacking managers every 5 mins is the answer. Remember Spurs and Chelsea have had only limited succsess considering their investment. KK has made mistakes in last years transfer and so had Fergie over the years. Besides those managers mentioned in your post would want champs league. Be careful what you wish for.

The premier league has changed we are no longer a top 4 team. We have gone backwards from Hicks and Gillette but blindly sacking managers won’t do anything. Stick with KK another year and let’s see what happens. be careful what you wish for

        • Kikigame2

Sacking the manager did it for Chelsea, did it for Newcastle, did it for Westbrom. How many home games do we have to loose to sack the manager?

  • 9ja Scouser

    IMHO
Liverpool started playing when Spearing went off and SG dropped into mid-field.
It looked like the Spearing/Henderson combo had lost the midfield, and our attack were starved of intelligent forward passes.

the match started tilting till AC came on and we started to dominate. Chelsea won, by whatever means time to plan for next season.

We  do not have cover for Lucas. this must be fixed.
We may also need a hypnotist…a prolific goal scorer, decent winger who scores, and a left back…

  • Bill&Bob

This web site is a fcking disgrace, you pay no respect to Kenny Dalglish, that game was really close in the end, ok a bad first half but we rallied back in the second and if we’d equalised could of gone on to win it.  I go the match but didnt go to wembley today, all you can say is sack this sack that, if we fall at every first hurdle we’ll never get anywhere, KD must be given the chance, he must be given another season, people here want instant success like spoilt children instead of earning success.  I’ve seen really good enjoyable performances at Anfield with good football but at times we’ve been really really unlucky. If you plant a tree you dont uproot it because it doesnt show any fruit in year one, you must allow the man his contract period and judge it then.  Our whole  net spend (£41 million) last year was equivalent to less than just one of chelseas signings last year so lets not get dillusional. Fck me lads Im not a happy scouser with comments like this, its like you’re waiting just for the result and cant wait to get your negative posts in.  IMO most of you are a Fkn disgrace.

    • MR GRUMPY

I agree with you mate I think a lot of these so called supporters were hoping we would be beat so that the could stick the knife further into Kenny,s back, it makes me sick to read some of the crap being written here today do they not realize that Chelsea could be European Champions very soon and we came very close to beating them to day, dosn,t sound like a bad team to me, yes every body knows that changes are needed but as you say at least give Kenny a chance to make the changes, to the Rafa brigade I ask how many premier league titles did we win under him ? answer NONE .

      • Ross

We came very close to beating them? What planet are you on?

Chelsea are a much stronger side and we never looked like beating them.Ok so we had to throw everything at them for the last half hour by hoofing long balls up to Carroll and we put them under pressure and scored a good goal but we never looked as though wee could beat them.We were totally destroyed for the first 60 mins.KD is going to have to find some seriously good talent this summer if we are to improve.

      • Guest

That same European Champion team was defeated twice away under AVB by this same squad, and a further two more times before Kenny ‘enhancing’ it with his signings. the different is Di Mateo just tactically more superior OR believe more in his squad and play them out to full strength, while Kenny try to take the easy, cautions way out with luck.

      • Kikigame2

I don’t normally contribute I feel like there are things which are not clear to most of the people here. Were talking about net spending. I must first admit that I might fell into the Rafa brigade. Yes,compare selling Clouch to try to bring in Torres, and selling Mereilles to try to bring in Henderson. How many players did Rafa buy for more than 15mil can be considered flop bar Aquillan? Torres? Mascherano? Johnson?. We nearly beat the soon to be champions league winner? What did Newcastle do to them last week? What can we say about winning 5 home games all season? Even with the net spending of 41mil, you are expected to win more than 5 home games all season. What is Newcastle’s net spending to be contesting for champions league? How much ‘net spending’ do we need to contest for champions league?

        • Cdub c dub

dont worry too much about net spend lad,or your fifteen mill cut off point, rafa bought more bad players than kenny could even name, law of averages alone meant he had to get a couple of good ones, he also ruined one or two and totally misused one or two more much  to our cost , newcastle have a time honoured tradition ( along with spurs ) of clambering out of mid table mediocrity every few years and threatening to have three good seasons in a row, trust me fella , it wont happen, it just wont happen ,just ask their supporters, liverpool have a time honoured tradition on the other hand of being a global giant that have had poor seasons on and off for generations and bouncing back and thats exactly what we will do again, its just how it is how it allways has been and will be again , trust me laddie all will be fine and if you cant trust me trust that one or two are just about to find out just how ruthless the king can be !

    • MR GRUMPY

    • Matchy

You have wrote exactly how i feel!!
the Negative crap wrote about KD is disgusting …our club was in shite and he has led us to 2 finals in his first full year
I feel ashamed by so called( liverpool supporters) ….you see that second word it says SUPPORT Liverpool  win lose or draw its not fifa 12

      • Stulee123

KD is just an employee of the club, he is not beyond Critisim , LFC was here before Kenny and will be here after him , some people need to get a grip, his time out of management has been telling. Ludicrously overspending on average (at best) players who have actually made the first 11 worse no tactics, appealing press conferences , he’d rather walk out of rather than explain to fans the reason for the worst league performance in living memory. Playing Henderson even though he is awful, really awful( got to justify the £16m somehow, eh, Kenny)
And Matchy as you point out the second word says “support” but the first word says Liverpool not Kenny
I support Liverpool so if our current manager is not upto it I will say so and so should everyone else

        • saraceninc

This is fair, this is not a dictatorship! we all respect Kenny and all he has done for LFC, However, what will it take for people to recognize that he may not be the right man for the job? 14th, 16th, relegation? Will they still then say in Kenny we believe ? What will they say then? Rafa is not the answer, the club needs to move on. Lets stop bringing old folk back and move with the times.

    • Stulee123

His performance , signings, results are unacceptable , if his name wasn’t Kenny Dalglish we wouldnt accept it, you have to earn success correct you also have to PROVE via results that you deserve to be Liverpool manager ( 5 wins in league at anfield is. A stackable offence ) I never wanted him to be given the job permanently because I knew if it went tits up (as it undeniably has) that we would struggle to move him on because of his legend status.
Well his time out of the game has dimmed his vision his signings are awful Sunerland and villa took us for mugs £36m Hendo and downing. We are going backwards and I don’t trust him to buy the right players if I were FSG I wouldn’t give him another penny of the clubs money. NO MAN IS BIGGER THAN THE CLUB, not even Kenny

    • Cdub c dub

well said mate, maybe now people realize why i say no to a 76 thou stadium, this is the sort of clowns that will be able to get a ticket then we have to sit with them and listen to them trying to imply that by slagging everything that moves that they are some super knowlegeable superfan and that only the absolute pinnacle of success in every area of there unbeleivably totally perfect lives will do, the club doesnt need these i strongly suspect generally unhappy sad little people,it hasnt been exactly the season i would have hoped for but it hasnt been all bad either, give dalglish the money to get the last three or four players he needs, let him carry on working with a c, we cant judge hendo til we see him in his proper role for a year, time for d kuyt to move on for me (sadly ) and for j c to start coaching now, c adam i”m afraid just hasnt got enough i dont think he will make it as a liverpool player any time soon  , we  want a striker, a wide man on the right, lucas leiva back and on form and someone to make mischeif in and around the edge of the box , wouldnt mind kenny telling us what he has against maxi too, i admit i am surprised at how little he has been used this season given his record and finally we really desperately need serious movement on redeveloping the stadium , that little lot should keep everyone busy during the close season, heres to next !

  • saraceninc

Inevitable result reflecting a very poor team and season. hugely disappointing for the poor fans. Hard earned money wasted every week. The kenny die hards will say isn’t it great we won the Carlington and are runners up in the FA? The rest of us will wonder how on earth have LFC ended up being a mid table team after spending £120 mil last Summer??

  • Ross

Jay Spearing is the worst of the lot, the lad has a big heart but he is probably not even good enough to be in the Premier league.

He was at fault for both of the goals and looked way out of his depth and I felt very sorry for him in the end. He is only at the club because they want to try and hold onto the local lads.

A strong half hour at the end but it was obvious from the start there was only going to be one winner today.

The difference in class between Liverpool and Chelsea was a real eye opener and very sad to see.

Safe to say that Liverpool are no longer a big club. Sad fact but something we now have to accept as there is no way we get back into the champions league – well not for another 10 years at least.

Even sadder because it did not have to be this way. Bad management is entirely to blame.

  • Ianmcd31

So enrique made a silly defensive error but he made up for it with his surging runs and trying to be positive, that’s all you can ask for. A mistake was made with the midfield, they failed in the first half, gerrard having to sit back and support the midfield with suarez becoming isolated. A shame as it was a chance for spearing and henderson to show themselves. Changes to that midfield could have made at half time but hey ho. One positive was Carroll, i’m really happy for him, he is really showing his worth, a winning goal in the semi’s and nearly two today to rescue us, great job Carroll, i look forward to seeing you next season. In hindsight mistakes were made in the team selection, but that happens when you loose to a better team on the day. Some new additions, a summer break, and a clean slate next season. Remember some of our new lads have picked up a winners medal and a runners up medal in their first season for us, that’s not bad at all, it’s a stepping stone, and i’m with them all the way.

    • Stulee123

Our new lads Hendo Downing Adam are not fit to wear the shirt, the way Dalglish insists on playing Henderson is criminal, just so he doesn’t look like a mug for spending £16M o. Him, not worth £5 M
