Reds find out Europa League qualifier opponents

By on July 21, 2012

Liverpool will face either Macedonian side FK Renova or FC Gomel of Belarus in the third qualifying round of the Europa League next month.

The Reds were last in the competition in the 2010-2011 campaign when they were beaten by Portuguese side Braga in the last 16.

The first leg will be played away from home on Thursday 2nd August, with the return fixture at Anfield taking place a week later on the 9th August.

The match will be Brendan Rodgers’ first competitive fixture as Liverpool manager. He will be without Olympic participants Luis Suarez, Craig Bellamy and Sebastian Coates for the fixtures.

The Olympics should stick to track and field with amateurs and leave professional games like football alone, whos going to pay up if any of our players are seriously injured taking part, I bet the Olympics committee will keep well out of the lime light then, leaving teams like Liverpool to pick up the tab for crocked players.

Great opportunity to test the attacking partnership of Borini and Carroll.
