Reds youngsters to join North America tour

Several members of Liverpool’s academy and reserves will join the first-team squad for the North America tour which begins next week.

They will also be joined by Alberto Aquilani and Dani Pacheco, who spent last season out on loan.

Those who won’t be part of the squad are Luis Suarez, Sebastian Coates and Craig Bellamy – due to their Olympic involvement – and Pepe Reina – who gets an extended holiday after Spain’s Euro 2012 success.

The England six, of Gerrard, Johnson, Kelly, Henderson, Downing and Carroll, are expected to join up with the rest of the squad in the second week of the tour – missing the Toronto match.

From the academy, forwards Adam Morgan and Jordan Ibe, full-backs Ryan McLaughlin and Brad Smith, goalkeeper Danny Ward, centre backs Stephen Sama and Andre Wisdom and midfielder Krisztian Adorjan are all part of the squad, as is exciting winger Raheem Sterling.

The Reds head to Boston on Monday, where they will train at Harvard University throughout their stay across the pond.
