Liverpool FC Ins and Outs under FSG / NESV

Following the deadline day debacle, much discussion has now opened around FSG’s financial strategy placed upon Liverpool Football Club.

In his open letter to supporters on Monday, principal owner John Henry said “We will never place this club in the precarious position that we found it in when we took over at Anfield. This club should never again run up debts that threaten its existence.”

Therefore, using stats from the ever-reliable LFC History, here is a lowdown of who has arrived and who has departed Anfield since FSG (NESV) purchased the club in October 2011.

Of course, there has been much discussion surrounding FSG’s reported inclusion of player wages into their financial strategy and calculations. Some reports suggest that this summer’s dealings have reduced the wage bill by £25m per year.

It is previously reported that Liverpool’s wage bill stood at £128.9m per year, prior to this summer.

Liverpool currently have a record £25m per season deal with kit manufacturer Warrior Sports and a reported £20m per year deal with shirt sponsor Standard Chartered.

Last season Liverpool gained £54.4m from TV revenue via the Premier League.

FSG (NESV) purchased Liverpool FC for a value of £300m on October 15th, 2010, and eliminated all of the acquisition debt placed on LFC by its previous owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett, reducing the Club’s debt servicing obligations from £25m-£30m a year to £2m-£3m.

One thing is for sure, Liverpool’s finances are much healthier than two years ago.
