Manager “under no pressure” to sell to Liverpool

Wigan boss Roberto Martinez says he is in the enviable position of not having to sell reported Liverpool target Ali Al-Habsi.

The Omani goalkeeper is thought to have caught the eye of Reds boss Brendan Rodgers after an injury setback and loss in form to first choice shotstopper Pepe Reina.

But Martinez, who was linked with the Liverpool job in the summer and spoke to the club’s owners, says he is comfortable he can hold on to his goalkeeper at the DW Stadium.

“We’re in a good moment financially. We don’t have to sell players and that’s a real strength of ours,” he said.

“It’s a really nice compliment for Ali and he’s been outstanding since coming to the football club.

“We have a few players who are reaching a very good level of form and I’m not against having a lot of good football compliments.”
