Liverpool Director spotted in London with Alex Pearce – deal imminent?

Liverpool Football Club Managing Director Ian Ayre has been photographed in London meeting with Reading defender Alex Pearce, sparking speculation that the Reds are on the verge of completing a deal for the 24-year-old.

Pearce may be available at a cut-price following Reading’s relegation to the Championship, and Liverpool have been linked with a move for him for several weeks.

The Daily Mail report that Ayre was spotted with Pearce in the Novikov bar in Mayfair, a rich area nightlife of London.

Earlier in the season, we brought you a scouting report on Pearce. Read it here.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers has worked with Pearce before, when he was Reading manager in 2009, where he made Pearce club captain.

Deal or no deal, Liverpool look hungry to get their transfer dealings done early this summer with Manchester City defender Kolo Toure already confirmed to be joining the club on July 1st, when the transfer window officially reopens.

The increased speculation regarding bringing Pearce to Anfield will surely put central defender Martin Skrtel on alert, who has already admitted he may have to consider his future this summer.
