The 26-year old forward is said to be set to leave the French Ligue 1 Champions this summer and has his heart set on Liverpool, the report says.

le10sport claim Liverpool will launch a bid for French international Kevin Gameiro in the coming days.

Gameiro scored 8 goals in 25 league appearances for the Parisian club last season.

Back in England, West Ham have joined the race to sign Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey.

We reported this morning that Swansea are ready to make a £5million bid for the England Under-21 international.

The Daily Express says that West Ham and Swansea, along with Norwich and Stoke are among the suitors for the 21-year-old’s signature.

Earlier this month, This Is Anfield writer Ben Twleves discussed the pros and cons of selling Shelvey this summer.

Meanwhile, Reds captain Steven Gerrard has been giving his thoughts on the forthcoming season.

Last night he gave an update on his recovery from shoulder surgery and discussed Liverpool’s four new signings this summer.

Today he has spoken about Reds’ rivals Manchester United, and say he hopes they have a ‘wobble’ getting used to life without manager Alex Ferguson, who retired at the end of last season.

“They have replaced a world-class manager with another who has done a fantastic job at Everton, so I think David will continue to do a good job there.

“Let’s hope they have a wobble,” said Gerrard on Sky Sports News. “But I think they have too many good players to fall out of the title race.

“It is new for Manchester United. From a biased point of view, let’s hope they have a wobble, but I think they have too many good players to fall out of the title race.

“They have world-class players and I expect them to fight for the league again.”
