Agger has been linked with a move to the Nou Camp this summer and was said to be one of their targets for a new centre back, but following the appointment of manager Gerardo Martino this week, that interested has ended report The Express:

Martino has different ideas, and reports from Spain suggest that neither Agger nor [David] Luiz’s name came up in discussions between the Argentinian and Barca technical director Andoni Zubizarreta.

Agger, 28, was also linked with a move away from Anfield last summer when Man City were interested but Liverpool wanted £25m. Agger affirmed his desire to remain at the club by getting ‘YNWA’ tattooed on his knuckle.

The Dane is one of the favourites to take over the vice captaincy this summer following Jamie Carragher’s retirement. He captained the side in the first pre-season match at Preston and has shared duties with Lucas Leiva in Steven Gerrard‘s absence.
