“I have a YNWA tattoo. I love the club.”

The Catalan giants lodged a big-money bid for the Danish international earlier this month that was rejected outright by Liverpool, who have recently made Agger vice-captain following Jamie Carragher’s retirement.

Now new Barca boss Gerardo Martino says the club can do without a new central defender at the Nou Camp. He is quoted in the Metro newspaper as saying, “A new center back? I’m happy with the team I have.

“There’s always the January window if we need anything. Last year’s problems in defence were the result of injuries. We have enough options if everybody’s fit.”

Meanwhile Agger has been quizzed by Danish television on the speculation linking him with a move to Barcelona, but he says his heart is firmly at Liverpool for as long as the Reds will have him.

He told Bold in his homeland, “Barcelona are obviously a big club, but I have never thought about leaving Liverpool, unless they want to sell.

“Everyone at the club are an integral part of my life. I. I have a YNWA tattoo.

“Frankly I don’t mind if we don’t finish in the top four, I love the club.”

Agger will this season form a new central defensive partnership with Kolo Toure. The Ivorian internatioanl defender signed this summer on a free transfer from Manchester City as a replacement for Carragher, with Martin Skrtel seemingly still third choice at Anfield.
