Hughes, 18, is a highly-rated English midfielder who has clocked up almost 50 appearances for Derby despite his tender age – he made his debut at 16. He’s also picked up four England Under 21 caps.

Such talent though, would come at a price, The Daily Mail claim The Championship side will want around £15m for him.

Man United are also said to be interested in Hughes, who is reportedly a Liverpool supporter.

Liverpool were linked with a move for Hughes in August, with some identifying his as a long-term replacement for Steven Gerrard.

The Express quote new Derby manager Steve McClaren admitting that eventually the club will have to let Hughes leave, “Eventually he will be too good. What we need behind that is players coming through to replace him.”
