The 19-year-old signed for the South Yorkshire club on a one-month loan deal in mid-January, and impressed on his debut for the Tykes.

The Northern Irishman suffered a hamstring injury in training last week but that hasn’t stopped manager Danny Wilson extending the loan deal. “We won’t rush him back from injury, but we’re hopeful he’ll be back as soon as possible,” he said.

“We’re delighted to have Ryan on board for the remainder of the season. He has become one of the group and his performance against Blackpool showed just what he is capable of.”
