Adam Lallana ‘wants Liverpool move’

Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana wants a move to Liverpool despite interest from Chelsea and Manchester United this summer, according to reports in Tuesday’s papers.

The 25-year-old has been in impressive form this season, making the shortlist for PFA Player of the Year – which Luis Suarez won on Sunday evening.

The Mirror claim “The winger is set to leave St Marys, with Liverpool in pole position for his signature.”

They claim the Englishman “has his heart set on a move to Anfield.”

The Mirror report that Lallana would cost around £20 million but that “Southampton owner Katharina Liebherr is prepared to green light a sale.”

The news is reported by several of Tuesday’s papers, including The Daily Mail, who write that Lallana “has decided on Merseyside”.

The Times, meanwhile, claim Liverpool will bid £25 million and also have interest in Lallana’s Southampton team mate Luke Shaw, the 18-year-old left-back.

Lallana should be part of Roy Hodgson’s England squad at the World Cup, where he’ll be alongside Liverpool players Steven Gerrard, Jordan Henderson, Glen Johnson, Raheem Sterling and Daniel Sturridge.

The creative midfielder would add depth and quality to Liverpool’s attacking options, able to operate anywhere across the attacking midfield areas, where he has this season impressively for Southampton.

His potential arrival would, however, cast doubts over the futures of Suso – currently on loan at Almeria in Spain – Luis Alberto and Iago Aspas.
