Luis Suarez interviews The Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney

Two icons of Liverpool, Luis Suarez and Sir Paul McCartney, recorded this interview prior to the former Beatles man’s gig in Uruguay on Saturday evening.

McCartney will play to over 50,000 people at the Centenario Stadium in Montevideo, and ahead of the concert spoke to Liverpool forward Suarez about cultural relations.

With Uruguay set to play England at this summer’s World Cup in Brazil, Suarez asks McCartney whether he will be going and who is favourite player is.

McCartney replies, “You know what, I will not be going to the World Cup. I was invited but I can’t go. But I will be watching on the television like millions of other people. My favourite player is…me!”

Suarez, who has scored 29 goals for Liverpool this season with four games to go, then cheekily asks McCartney whether he will support Uruguay if England are eliminated early in the competition.

McCartney replied, “That’s a difficult question because because England are not going to be defeated by Uruguay. I’m sorry, England are going to win the World Cup. You know that, I know that, we all know that. But please dedicate a goal to me anyway!”

McCartney concludes the interview by chanting, “Liverpool, Liverpool… Everton!”

Suarez is action for the Reds this Sunday, 20 April as they take on Norwich City at Carrow Road. The game is live on Sky Sports 1 and gets underway at 12noon.

Title rivals Chelsea are at home to Sunderland on Saturday evening. Kick-off is 5.30pm and also live on Sky Sports 1.
