Liverpool confirmed their first signing of the transfer window on Monday morning with the announcement that Rickie Lambert has made the switch from Southampton.

Now it looks as though left-back Moreno will follow Lambert to Anfield — official confirmation could be announced as early as Monday evening, according to Marca.

The Spanish newspaper suggest the fee for Moreno will be around €22 million (approximately £17 million), and contrary to speculation, Liverpool’s Spanish youngster Suso is not involved in the deal.

The paper reports:

“There are no obstacles left in negotiations. All parties have agreed a deal, and the player himself has agreed terms with the English team.

“It could become official in the next few hours.”

Reports on Sunday suggested a deal was close, and talks between Liverpool and Sevilla were thought to have continued into the night.

The 21-year-old is highly regarded in Spain, despite not earning a call-up to Vicente del Bosque’s Spain squad for this summer’s World Cup. The likes of Jordi Alba and Cesar Azpilicueta were ahead of him in the pecking order.

Liverpool are also still being linked with a move for Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana, though talks between the Saints and the Reds appear to have hit a dead end.
