Brazilian side Sao Paulo seeking January friendly with Liverpool

Brazilian giants Sao Paulo are attempting to organise a January friendly against Liverpool.

Brazilian newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo report the Brazilian clubs interest in organising the match which would be for goalkeeper Rogerio Ceni’s testimonial.

The two sides faced each other in the 2005 World Club Cup Final in Japan, which Sao Paolo won 1-0, with Ceni their captain.

Ceni is the highest scoring goalkeeper ever – having scored 120 goals during his 22-year career with Sao Paulo.

Liverpool face Leicester, Sunderland, Aston Villa and West Ham in January, plus the FA Cup third round. There is the possibility of fitting the game in between Sunderland and Aston Villa games.

Liverpool’s January Fixtures

January 1: Leicester City (home, Premier League)

January 10: Sunderland (away, Premier League)
January 17: Aston Villa (away, Premier League)
