Brendan Rodgers’ side made it into the draw by beating Crystal Palace 2-1 at Selhurst Park in the fifth round thanks to second-half goals from Daniel Sturridge and Adam Lallana.

The draw was made at Deepdale on Monday night ahead of Preston North End’s fifth round clash at home to Manchester United. Former Liverpool boss and England manager Roy Hodgson drew the balls with the help of Brian Finney, the son of Preston legend Sir Tom Finney.

The last meeting between Liverpool and Blackburn was at Ewood Park in the Premier League in April 2012 when Andy Carroll scored a 90th minute winner in a 3-2 victory after an earlier brace from Maxi Rodriguez.

The tie will be played on the weekend of 7 March 2015, with exact dates, television coverage and kick-off times yet to be confirmed. The winner books themselves a place in the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley Stadium in April.
