Sakho injury update: Defender out for a month

Mamadou Sakho will miss the next month of action due to the hamstring injury he suffered in the early stages of last week’s FA Cup quarter final replay at Blackburn.

It’s the fourth injury the Frenchman has suffered this campaign, and the second hamstring injury since joining the club in summer 2013.

The 25-year-old will miss tonight’s match at home to Newcastle, the FA Cup semi final against Aston Villa, plus games against West Brom, Hull City and QPR. He could return vs. Chelsea on May 10th, according to the Guardian.

Emre Can returns for Liverpool against Newcastle after a one-match ban, while Martin Skrtel will be back from his three-match ban against Villa.

Kolo Toure and Dejan Lovren were the makeshift centre-backs against Blackburn and it will be interesting to see if Brendan Rodgers continues with those as a pairing in a back four, or change back to a back three and re-stall Can to defence.
