The Reds go into the game off the back of an FA Cup exit to Aston Villa, goalless draw at West Brom and defeat at Hull City, with pressure mounting on both Rodgers and his team.

Speaking of the scrutiny, Rodgers told press, “When you’re working at a club at this level and of this size, it’s not just every game, it’s every day.

“In the game the other night, the players gave absolutely everything. It’s not a team that’s lacking commitment or attitude. We just lacked that bit of confidence in vital areas of the field where we’ve shown in the past to be very strong in.

“Our season doesn’t finish until the final whistle at Stoke. This is a team that will fight until the very end and the next game is very important to us.”
